It's just a damn shame what our "leaders" have done to this country. In my humble opinion, the owner of the property should have every right to have people removed from their property that they do not want there....after all, it is their property, right? haha, guess not.

Perhaps we should advocate our political views on the front lawn of the houses of these boycotters; let us hope then, that the Supreme Court's view on property rights is a consistent one.

This liberal interpretation of "public" property started with the Civil Rights Act of '64 and continues today, most notably as justification for the smoking bans emerging across the country. As an owner of commercial office space in RI, I cannot legally smoke a cigarette on my own property. Our freedoms are blatantly disregarded if they interfere with the "public good."

This is a similar argument I have heard from some in support of "Net Neutrality." They claim that the internet has to remain open and free by government force in order to protect their right to free speech. It is a ridiculous argument. Just like the mall owners, internet providers can't use force to shut you up, but they don't have to provide you with their property with which to say it. People only seem to support rights when it is convenient for them. It's a mindset of "Who cares about the rights of the mall owners or internet providers as long as I get what I want." Actually that would imply that people are giving it that much thought, the ideas of consistency and property rights sadly don't even enter most people's minds.

Mall owners hold their property out as a public space for people to gather, shop, get entertained. Seems unfair to allow them to hold themselves out as a public asset, get public financing in many cases, provide space for public events (which many malls do), and make serious dough doing so, without expecting that they would be treated as a semi-public place when it comes to Constitutional protections for free speech at the core of our democracy.

I don't see why property owners need special protections from democratic principles.
