These findings have been proven to cause damage over time. What is the accountability for these companies? Most people would view a CEO salary of $10million as large, but if ROI exceeds $250million, that salary is actually very small. Also, if some of the $10million package is accepted as stock options, there is no guarantee to the CEO that the option will produce a return - unless he produces. In a properly structured organization working within a truly free market, what's good for the CEO will be good for the organization - higher CEO salaries will mean higher shareholder returns.
