Guess what else Wal-Mart has done? They have taken on the role of deciding what their employees can and cannot afford!! For several years, Aflac has been part of their benefit package. As you may know, Aflac is NUMBER ONE on Fortune Magazine's Most Admired Companies in the Health & Life Insurance category. Aflac is also the NUMBER ONE provider of supplemental insurance in the world! Do you know how it got there? 1. By NEVER, EVER, EVER having a rate increase since it started in 1955!! 2. By paying their claims FAST...normally within 4 business days!! 3. By providing personal service to it's clients!! But because Wal-Mart is known for sacrificing quality for quantity - it has decided to force it's employees to buy their supplemental insurance from another company beginning Jan. 1, 2010. As a longtime policyholder...let me assure you that you get what you pay for!! They are forcing their employees to by second-rate insurance, that simply means that not only are they not making decent wages; now when they experience a major event like an accident or illness - chances are they will lose everything they have. Aflac is the ONLY company that practices "SAY ON PAY" - which means that if the company doesn't do well - the CEO doesn't get paid!!! How many other insurance companies do that? NONE!! Look back on the previous year...you didn't see Aflac asking for a bailout did you...because THEY DON'T NEED ONE!! And you can be sure that if you have a claim, Aflac WILL have the funds to pay that claim!

I read your article while comparing the ARI and ARC web sites side by side. I usually go to one or the other, and, because they are very similar, didn't see the differences between the two. I never compared them before like I am doing today after talking with you last night. They still look very similar and, will probably remain looking very similar, even with their content differences, unless an effort is made to make them look different. Of course, they do say they are what they are, and that probably should be enough for most people.

Mr. Bowden:

Recently my niece, a high school senior, told about what she "learned" in school about Wal-Mart. It was the usual slanted nonsense. I corrected a couple of her misconceptions at the time. This piece provides excellent balance to the Wal-Mart issue, and my daughter is planning to forward the link to it to her cousin.

Excellent post

I have always been a Bruce Springsteen fan but recently the Boss has really pissed me off. He is talking and behaving like an hypocrite left-winger. I do agree with this article and I think Springsteen is trying to please the Left-wing establishment. Springsteen is a very good business man more than anything else and such a big business man, he knows (now that his music is not good as it was) it is time to steer to the Left and make as much money as possible out of the final stage of his career. Having followed the Boss for many years I can say he is very much into money, more than he can admit.
