OAC early application deadline this Friday

The deadline to apply for early admission to the Objectivist Academic Center is this Friday, April 17. The OAC undergraduate program is a comprehensive, systematic course of study in Ayn Rand’s philosophy and the art of objective communication. The four-year distance-learning program is designed to be taken in conjunction with the typical workload of a college student or working professional–and would be like earning a “minor” in Objectivism, if today’s universities offered such an option.

Courses are taught by professional Objectivist intellectuals such as Dr. Onkar Ghate and Dr. Keith Lockitch, and take place via teleconference or over the internet. All live classes are recorded for the benefit of those who cannot attend, and students receive personal feedback on tests and assignments from their instructors via phone or email.

Here’s what a couple of OAC students have said about the program:

J.R., 3rd-year OAC student:

Anyone can read Ayn Rand’s writings and adopt her conclusions, but the OAC gives students the opportunity to study and practice the methodology behind the philosophy. If you want to get to the point where thinking in rational, integrated principles feels like it’s second nature, then start by applying to this program.

S.S., 3rd-year OAC student:

Being a student in the OAC is a completely sui generis experience. For those of you thinking of applying: do it! There is simply no substitute for the instruction you will get in the OAC. Studying Objectivism on your own can’t get you the kind of fresh perspectives you will get from your professors and fellow students. While I’ve learned a lot about the content of Objectivism, I’ve learned even more about proper methodology. I’ve gained a completely irreplaceable value from being a student there.

Early applicants increase their likelihood of being accepted to the program, and will hear back from the OAC by June 1. The regular admission deadline is July 31, with applications reviewed by September 1. Here’s another link to the online application.

You’ll find more quotes from OAC students on the value of the program here.
