Alex,

I thought your recent posts on the state of healthcare captured the essence of the premises involved in the debate. As I comment upon these issues in online circles I have become fascinated by the number of large, crucial premises that are unconsciously and inexplicitly smuggled into the debate on healthcare. The different positions one holds on these assumptions largely determines what their position on public healthcare. Alex I thought you, using your philosophical training, uncovered what I believe to be the most important healthcare premise that often goes undetected, undiscussed, and unchallenged -- that of course of the concept of a "public good" which effectively removes the individual from the debate. Nice work.

I've got to stop reading these ARI editorials. They're too damned good. I am writing an editorial to my local paper trying to boil down the essence of what the consensus of reform means to all sides, and I feel like you stole my thunder!
Keep up the great work.
