		<description>I once worked in historic preservation, and I like your argument very much.  It&#039;s much better to use the free market, and not all old buildings are worth saving.  There are also easements and other devices that give property owners an incentive to preserve historic buildings.  

The funny thing about the HOLLYWOOD letters is that many residents considered them an eyesore when they were erected in the 1920s.  I believe that the letters were originally HOLLYWOODVILLE, a real estate development.  But over the years they were hallowed by time.</description>

And not only is it the rights-respecting method of achieving a goal, it&#039;s also so much easier and faster than convincing a government to trample the rights of others through zoning, appropriating or eminent domain. Hopefully, other preservationists will follow this example.</description>
