I see that your Obama has been taking lessons from our Sarkozy. My sincerest condolences.

I'm a bit surprised though to see you comparing this plan to Madoff's scheme. Isn't there a better identification of "taking money from some people, giving it to others, and pretending that this creates wealth" in Danneskjold's explanation of his reasons for fighting Robin Hood?

What happens in a few months or the next year or two when these buyers, who can't make their car payments because they bit off more than they can swallow, get their cars repossessed? I don't think it'll be much different than all the home foreclosures we're seeing today.

I totally agree. this program does not create wealth, or merely redistribute it - it destroys it. Many of us have no need for brand new vehicles, we drive used ones. Destroying serviceable cars and trucks will just drive up the price for used vehicles. The energy savings is negligible, if there is any. How much energy does it take to build a truck? I drive a 1990 Suburban, and I recycle 3000 pounds of steel every time I turn the key.
