Great article. Yet another example of the destructive influence the government is having on the economy. Yet how do we broadcast this reason? Why are so many people content to be led by the nose?

I'm with Fedex and have been for several years. Fedex is in its own current fight for less regulations (intervention).

As an insider, I'm going to try to do all I can to help Fedex win its fight against UPS lobbying efforts to change Fedex labor staus that will crippled Fedex. UPS cannot win on the open marketplace so is using political pull to hinder Fedex, rather than continue to try to win more freedom for itself.

See: www.brownbailout.com

I'm adhereing to freedom, as I speak up. I'm suggesting Fedex to ARI for intellectual reference.

I call for lassez-faire those with whom I work.

Yaron,
Shouldn't we focus on who is the ventriloquist behind the president?
Obama spent more than TWICE the money for "his" campaign than McCain (not that names or parties would really matter), see http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.php.
Follow the money trail. If you know who financed the marketing campaign you know who is writing his scripts.
It IS capitalism in a VERY twisted way ..

The irony is that the central planners of the Obama government are able to carry out their policies because of the de-centralized interests of the populous. That is, not enough people are aware of or interested in the injustices suffered by Chrysler bondholders and creditors to create an audible voice to "Central Services" (reference to the great movie "Brazil"). That scenario is repeated on an issue by issue and industry by industry basis. The lack of a centralized voice in favour of the separation of state and economy enables the government to continue the deterioration of the free market. It's only get worse now that the administration has set up the office of Elizabeth Warren, or as it should be more accurately described "The Office of Wesley Mouch".

I'm a regular reader of this blog, and there's nothing you've written before that has irked me in any way. But your comment on Brian Deese, who you referred to as the "random 31-year-old wonk who is now steering the auto industry" did irk me - specifically, the way you packaged his age alongside your negative commentary on planned economies. Setting the nature of his job aside for the moment, what does this man's age have to do with his ability to perform his job? It is ability and experience that determine competency at any given task. An older man would have had more time to build experience and develop his skills than a "31-year-old wonk", but his age would not automatically determine his level of experience. Rather, it is a man's ability to learn from and conceptually integrate the knowledge gained from his actions that determine his level of experience in any given field. Instead of referring to how Deese wasn't even out of law school, or that he had never before set foot inside an auto plant before being appointed to dismantle GM, you chose to make reference to his age as the best means of communicating his inexperience and incompetency. It was only mentioned in passing quotation marks, but the implications you've made in that short sentence were inaccurate and untrue.
