This is really excellent. Sad that our "representatives," for the most part, would have difficulty understanding your clear words.

Dear Mr. Bowden,

Your editorial is very illuminating and helpful. I've been reading about the Kagan nomination/hearing and I've not been able to analyse her ideas thoroughly. What she's said, and how she's said it have filled me with foreboding, and I understood some of what was wrong with her thiking. But you've illuminated for me much more fully why she is to be feared and why she aught to be denied a place on the Supreme Court. However, she will not be denied that place, and it will be because, as you said, our elected politicians are not at all up to the challenge of understanding why and exposing her lack of qualifications.

My only quibble, and it is minor, is with your conculsion that this situation is "a shame". That is pale language to describe the debacle of putting on the Supreme Court yet another justice who sees the Constitution as empty of meaning, content, moral guidance or rational purpose. We will suffer grievously for the ommisions and defective thinking of our elected represntatives as well as of Ms. Kagan's.

Cordially,

Roxanne Albertoli

The American Revolution, a struggle that reversed anointed Kingly prerogative for individual natural rights, is almost fully reversed into Government rights. When Scalia, Alito and Thomas leave the Court, FDR's dream of stacking the Justices into a rubber stamp will have been fulfilled.

Dear Mr. Bowden,

Thank you for your article.

Is there any way your article can be sent to all one-hundred Senators before the vote for confirmation? It just might stiffen the spine of some of the Republicans and it may give some of the Democrats a pause for consideration. I know it is a very long shot, as the light is dim and the wind is erratic, but what other option have we got at this point?

I have written to both of the Democratic Senators of my state imploring them to vote no for confirmation, but I think they have cotton in their ears and wool for brains.

Sincerely,

Robert Cons
