Is American society becoming more religious? Perhaps in some respects, but not
in others. Could you find a bookstore ten years ago that had an Atheist section?
Or books by such authors as Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins to put in it? Or a
state that would have allowed gay marriage?

On the other hand, you failed to mention the US Senate's 99-0 vote on a
resolution condemning the Ninth Circuit Court's ruling on the Newdow case,
which was really 100-0, as the lone absentee (Jesse Helms) co-sponsored the
resolution. Also, the fact that Europe seems to be leaning towards Sharia.

Are we becoming more religious, or rather more polarized over religion?

D'Souza seems to belive that lberals and conservatives are at odds with each other. They are really in search of a compromise as in the Congress. In other h word how best to establish absolute control over Americans ans then carve up the spoils.

They will have to give it a name similar to the NAZI version "Positive Christianity." Perhaps Christian Naturalism will fit the bill.

Sounds like Immanuel Kant who merely "implied" a few dastardly propositions which were later milked for all their worth by the post-kantians.Well,nip the evil in the bud. That's what you seem to be doing.Bravo!

What is a man like me to do? On one end of my political spectrum I have the Noah's Ark crowd; and, on the other I have my atheist friends...

Like it or not, Christians will have to deal with the fact that many of the founders were no Christians. Atheist need to deal with the fact that it was the idea that a "Creator" granted us our right to be individuals that has allowed for our prosperity. No other constitution that I know of has this key element. I love Ayn's work and agree wholeheartedly with, and employ many of the key principles of Objectivism, but I part company with my atheist friends.

I agree with much of what you have to say, but I also see your agenda and the slant it has. You act as if it was the moderns, our founders, who had no sense of the Divine. That was the post-modern movement that sought to kill god altogether, not our founders. Keep up the good work, I love reading this site... I had to say something on this one!
Peace,
Madcap
