ARI internship for college students interested in Objectivism

Here’s an item for college students interested in Ayn Rand’s philosophy: the deadline to apply for a summer internship at the Ayn Rand Institute is March 16. ARI interns will have the opportunity to study Ayn Rand’s philosophy while gaining real-world work experience in a professional setting. These internships are paid and available at ARI’s Irvine, CA, office. The program is open to students in all disciplines but is targeted towards those who are planning careers as academics or intellectual activists.

ARI internships are centered on the professional and intellectual development of the intern. Interns split their time evenly between providing clerical support for ARI’s Academic Division and undertaking a structured course of study tailored to the intern’s academic interests. A philosophy student may be guided through assignments focused on Rand’s epistemology, such as Ayn Rand’s perspective on concepts or logic. A student of political science, on the other hand, may be assigned topics within Rand’s moral defense of capitalism. Students are introduced to Rand’s philosophical principles and encouraged to further explore and contrast them to other schools of thought.

All ARI interns are paired with a staff intellectual (all of whom are Voices for Reason authors), with whom they work throughout the summer. Whatever the content of their study, all interns will be able to improve their thinking, writing, and speaking skills. The types of academic activities interns engage in include writing papers, reading and critiquing scholarly articles, and giving presentations before an audience of ARI staff.

ARI interns also receive the additional perks of a scholarship to attend the Objectivist summer conference and automatically qualify to attend the Clemson Institute for the Study of Capitalism’s annual student conference. Past interns have reported that an ARI internship is an immensely valuable intellectual and professional opportunity. We look forward to welcoming this year’s interns this summer.
